Camp-out!

I completely forgot about making a post with pictures from our WOW! Party! We had a blast before Thanksgiving break during our camp-out party. We got to build a fort, drink hot chocolate, make trail mix, and eat some no-bake s'mores treats! Students had so much fun reading and playing in the forts with their headlamps on!

I'm thankful for...

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving break! I am so thankful for Grant School and the wonderful families that I have the privilege of getting to know! Our class has been amazing so far this year, and I look forward to that trend continuing!

We took some time this week to think and write about what we are thankful for. Students chose one thing that they're thankful for and I snapped a picture of it. Check out our thankfulness photos below!

CCUA Field Trip

We had a great time visiting Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture yesterday! Students learned about the parts of plants we eat, the plant life cycle, and what CCUA was all about! We took a tour through the garden and got to taste mint and chives. We appreciate CCUA for hosting us and we will continue to work with them throughout the school year!

Bradford Farm Field Trip

Happy Friday!!

We had the best time this morning on our field trip to Bradford Farms! We were pulled by a tractor around the land, went through a corn maze, learned a ton of information about crops, and got to pick our own pumpkins! Students will be using their pumpkins for a homework project that goes along with our Chris Van Allsburg author study! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers that helped to make this trip such a success! Click the link below for some pictures of the trip!

Tour of the Classroom

This week students have been using a new app, Google Slides, to create a tour of our classroom! Each group was assigned an important part of our room, and it is their job to tell their audience all about it! They are creating slides, taking photos, and adding text! Once all groups are finished we will post them on our student blog. That way, if we get a new student in our class they can easily learn about our space!

30 Hands Projects

Students have been learning about the different elements of a story. After discussing characters, setting, problem, and solution, our class worked in small groups to identify the elements from a picture book they read. Once planning their work and writing a script was through, each group created a 30 Hands presentation on their iPads! Check out their projects by clicking the link below!

Walking Field Trip

We had an awesome time today on our walking field trip downtown! The students had a blast touring the police and fire stations. We got to go through the evidence room, go in a holding cell, sit in a police vehicle, and see the arson dog at the fire station! It was a beautiful day for our trip, and we all made it back safely! Thank you so much to the parent volunteers (Julie, Anne, Lisa, and Jac) for helping make this trip run so well! Check out the pictures from our trip by clicking the link below. Everyone have a great weekend!
